Urge Congress to act now to pass HR1737 – Support Our First Responders Act

With the new 118th Congress in session, it was critical to get this bill reintroduced that creates the nation’s first EMS grant program for all agencies public and private. On March 27th, we were successful in getting this bi-partisan bill sponsored by Congressmen Andy Kim and Mike Carey introduced to the US House of Representatives with referral to the Energy and Commerce Committee for review. Here’s the link to the press release: Reps Kim and Carey reintroduce bipartisan legislation to increase support for Emergency Medical Services.

It should be noted that 3 other congressional representatives (2 republicans, 1 democrat) provided their endorsements to the bill as well. Next steps will be to focus on getting sponsors for the Senate version of the bill as well as reaching out to members on the House Energy and Commerce Committee to build support.

You can join us to petition members of Congress to pass legislation that would create a grant program under the US Department of Health and Human Services, HR 1737, that would provide much-needed funding to EMS agencies for retention & recruiting, new technologies like Telehealth, medical supplies and equipment as well as mental health support. Use this letter template to write directly to the congressional representative that represents your district.
